December 20 1902

The two new bells which have been purchased to complete the octave at Badsey Church arrived on Monday and were hung during the week. It will be remembered that the old bells were re-hung a short time ago. It is hoped that the new clock in the tower will be put in next month.

December 24 1927

When driving his Alvis motor car in the direction of Birmingham on Monday at about midday, Mr AH Hunt, of Cirencester, collided with a dog which ran across the road near the AA Scout's box at Norton. The collision resulted in the car crashing into a garden hedge causing damage to the front axle, the mudguard and the hood. One of the dog's legs was broken but happily the motorist was uninjured.

Why run dozens of miles on an empty stomach with only the chance of a mouthful of fox when a leisurely walk of a few yards will take you to a good meat breakfast with fancy cakes to follow? This is seems was the thought of a hound at Eckington on Thursday morning when, with the guile and perspicacity of a fox, he invited himself into Laburnam Cottage where Mrs E Batey was entertaining a friend at morning coffee. The fox demolished the weekly meat ration, the cat's dinner and a plate of cakes before he could be ejected.

December 22 1977

Tenants in some council houses are living in worse conditions than people on the housing waiting list, according to the chairman of Wychavon's housing committee. Malcolm Meikle told members on Tuesday: "If it was another landlord the public health department would take a very different attitude from the one they have adopted with us." In a shock report, councillors were told that more than 400 pre-war houses were in urgent need of modernisation.
