SOLIHULL all but sealed their third successive championship when an under-strength side turned over relegation-haunted Stourport 50-12 at the weekend.

The Powergen North Midlands One leaders were without ten regulars but fears they might suffer proved unfounded.

With Worcester Wanderers' match against Bromyard postponed because the Herefordshire side could not raise a team, Solihull went four points clear at the top.

Worcester can only draw level by winning their two outstanding fixtures - starting against Bromyard at the weekend - and hoping Solihull trip up at neighbours Redditch in their last match.

And even in that scenario, Worcester would have to overhaul a mammoth points difference of 192 separating the title rivals.

The Portway-based side turn their attentions to the North Midlands Shield on Saturday.

Gamlin's team will be the underdogs for the third time in this season's competition when they take on Midlands West Four North outfit Ludlow in the quarter finals.

Solihull are likely to stage the tie at their traditional Sharman's Cross Road home (ko 2.30pm) as they bid to do the double and could be crowned champions by the end of play if Worcester slip against Bromyard.
