STAR striker Faustino Asprilla is set to show off his skills at Aggborough on Saturday in a spotlight-grabbing debut.

Kidderminster Harriers' opponents Darlington saw their work permit request for the Colombian granted on appeal yesterday.

Asprilla, who made his name at Parma in Italy before a £6.7m transfer to Newcastle United in 1996, has agreed terms with Harriers' Division Three rivals.

His initial permit application had been turned down by the Home Office on Tuesday but he will now be available for Saturday's squad.

Asprilla, 32 and released by Brazilian club Palmeiras, was targeted by chairman George Reynolds who also pursued Paul Gascoigne in the summer.

Harriers boss Ian Britton declared: "On the day I am more concerned about what we do rather than who they have playing for them."

But he admitted: "It would be nice if he played. He's very unpredictable. On his day at Newcastle he was a very, very good player.

"Hopefully, that would bring a few more people through the gates."

Harriers showed great character to pick up four points over the Bank Holiday, firstly beating Exeter City 4-3.

Then, with 15 fit players, Britton's men outfought Leyton Orient to secure a 0-0 draw.

Defender Craig Hinton (nose) and top scorer Bo Henriksen (groin) hope to start against Darlington.

Drewe Broughton is banned, while Dean Bennett and Abdou Sall (ankle) are doubts.

Britton continued: "We have two home games coming up so it's important we get two wins to move us up the table.

"We've drawn two and lost one from three away games though I'm always thinking we could have done better at Rushden.

"Drewe's done well for us and worked very hard but through his own stupidity is missing a game. I've told him as much and he's got to learn from it."

The Harriers boss has frustrated the opposition in two away matches now but is not bothered about upsetting other team's fans.

He said: "It's all right going to away grounds, playing all-out attack, and people saying you're a good footballing side but then losing 2-0 or 3-0.

"But we will play our football at home. We will hopefully play some away from home too but will be more a difficult side to beat.

"We're at home on Saturday and the onus will be on us to attack like it was on Orient on Monday.

"Darlington will make it very difficult for us. But we have players that can open up defences."
