BROMSGROVE Rovers crashed out of the Birmingham Senior Cup following a 3-0 second round defeat by Moor Green at the Victoria Ground.

The scoreline slightly flattered the visitors from the Dr Martens Premier Division and they took the lead as early as the second minute.

Richard Robinson was given too much space on the edge of the area before passing to Nathan Lamey, who struck a low shot across Matt Lowe and in via the left hand post.

Bromsgrove were unable to compete with the Moor Green midfield in the first period, in particular the industrious Craig Woodley, who covered every blade of grass on the pitch.

Chances for the hosts were rare. James Dyson saw a header go wide on 13 minutes while, on the half hour, the Bromsgrove midfielder saw a downward header cleared off the line by Peter Faulds.

Moor Green extended their lead on 38 minutes. Rovers failed to clear a loose ball, Martin Myers chipped the ball through to Lamey and he beat Lowe from ten yards.

The scoring was complete just before the interval when former Bromsgrove player Marvin Blake controlled Jai Stanley's left wing cross on his chest before firing a low shot into the corner of the goal.

Bromsgrove battled hard in the second period but were unable to create clear chances as Moor Green closed them down at every opportunity.

Lowe prevented Blake from scoring his second eight minutes from time after the Moor Green striker had sprung the offside trap.

Bromsgrove's best effort came from Mark Benbow, who forced a reaction save from Adam Rachel 15 minutes into the second half.
