WORCESTER City's players emerged from a thrilling 2-1 victory against Newport County last night and declared there is still more to come.

John Barton's side snatched the three points with a late Jon Holloway goal to remain undefeated in their opening four games.

But despite a brilliant second-half comeback midfielder John Snape said he believed the team could improve. "We've got a new- look midfield and I still think we can get better," he said.

Barton saluted his battling Worcester players and still believed they could win the game despite a missed penalty from Mark Owen in the 75th minute.

"I was disappointed with the penalty miss but I still felt there would be a chance along the line and then up popped Jon Holloway with the winner," he said.

Despite the victory, Barton was refusing to get swept along with any talk of title ambitions.

"It's important not to get carried away, we've gone four games undefeated and got eight points, that's all," he said.

"If we are still here after 38 games then we might need to alter our horizons, but we are keeping the players focused, though they feel there is more to come."

More than 1,500 spectators, including an estimated 300 Newport fans, created an electric atmosphere at St George's Lane and the football lived up to expectations as the visitors displayed the form that had won them their opening three fixtures.

Barton admitted Tim Harris's side had been simply brilliant in the first 45 minutes.

"In the first-half we surrendered possession too easily with too much long hopeful stuff and couldn't get forward enough to cause any problems but we were much better in the second-half."
