How many more games will there be like the 0-0 draw against Warwick?

We're out there to get as many points as we can between now and the end of the season, if that means sometimes getting points out of disappointing performances I won't grumble.

It's not about this season.

I'm already talking to players about next season, it's been such a difficult period since Gary (Whild) and I came to the club because there are so many things about this club that need to be changed.

Only one of my signings, Craig Hawkins, was from the Midland Alliance and I took a chance on him and he moved on.

I've signed Stuart Grosvenor from Bilston, Lee Booth, Lea Shaw, Quentin Townsend and Matty Southwick from Stourport, Richard Beale and Peter Sutton from Solihull and Neil Olden and Craig Harris from Bloxwich.

Most of them were playing for top six sides and playing well and winning.

They came into a situation where they were scrapping for points and for one reason or another have not played as well as they can and admit that.

Redditch have virtually assured survival and you have promised a top six finish next season. How?

I'm going to bring in a big name non league player who is a Uefa B coach and am in discussions at the moment. To build a side to challenge for honours we need that extra and bringing in a coach is part of building the right infrastructure.

We already have nine players who would walk into any side in this league and will be the foundation next year but you need 16 players of that calibre.

I already know the seven players I want to add when they are available.

No manager can lose nine players like Nicky Cross did and try to replace them in pre-season - it's not feasible.

I will start pre-season with around 20 players and whittle it down to 16 plus the two youth teamers who will play a part as the season goes on.

Is everyone apart from the nine going to be released?

At the end of the season everyone will be asked back because there are players I have never seen with the benefit of a proper pre-season. One or two might surprise me but I only see nine in my plans at the moment.

Are you concerned any of those nine will move elsewhere?

The players that will be right for Redditch United next year will want to play for Redditch and will not go to other clubs.

If they do not want to be here I'm better off without them.

Where are the seven new signings coming from? Stourport?

The players will come from Dr Martens clubs in the Premier and Western Divisions.

Some of them I have worked with before, some have been identified throughout the season.

How will your budget compare ?

Unfortunately money is a necessary evil in non-league football and can be the ruination of clubs who try to buy things they cannot afford.

Redditch manage their finances properly and all I ask is that the budget is within the club capabilities.

I've got a budget currently which won't give you a top six side, if you look at the top sides they are the biggest wage payers with budgets of say £2,000-£3,500 per week.

I won't get a budget like that but I will get what I think is fair to produce a top six side.

My chairman will put in an incentive for a top six and top three position.

But I'm a winner and did not come here to occupy the top six, I came here to build a side to win the league and would like to do it next season. The least I want to achieve is the top six, especially in light of the proposed non-league changes.

What sort of football will Redditch play next season?

I will go out to not concede goals, especially away from home.

I want the Valley to be a fortress next season. You need to be solid and pacy at the back with everyone busy all round the pitch. When Halesowen came here this season they believed they would win.

I will play a 3-5-2 but the three need to be pacy and take responsibility and the formation gives the width to bombard teams from the flanks. I want there to be a fear factor for opposing teams before kick-off which comes from fitness and high-tempo football, I can't emphasise enough how different it will be after a proper pre-season.

Is Paul Danks going to be offered a contract next year?

We are on our option year of a two year agreement with Paul at the moment.

Technically Paul is a free agent in the summer but we can still ask a fee for him because he is under 24.

We plan to sit down with Paul in the near future and discuss a contract with him.

I want him to stay next season and am quietly confident he will because he has a loyalty to Redditch.

Are there any more promising youngsters at the club?

There are two or three more lads in the current crop who show potential.

However even the two we have on contract are only 17 and not fully developed for a physical league.

You are trying to introduce them slowly and I would like to think they would develop and become regulars next season but I say that loosely and would not want to put pressure on them.

What do you think about the flak from Stourport this season?

I think it's very sad you can have a highly successful five year period where I took the club from the Banks's to the Dr Martens and that's how they react.

It was a very enjoyable spell on a low budget but I left for a potentially bigger club and a new challenge and was absolutely crucified as the worst person in the world.

I didn't plunder Stourport - Phil Mullen took a whole team when he left and never got the treatment I did. They have had a good season since I left and continue to do so and surely it's more worthwhile talking about that than Redditch.

Any final message to the Redditch fans?

When I came here I asked them to be patient and wasn't being patronising.

I knew the job would be difficult and keeping the team in the league was the priority.

We are getting there and will stay up - I say again judge me on next season.

This is a big club and I want to be the person to help it realise its ambition.
