BROMSGROVE Rovers boss George Rooney is hoping the club's link-up with Birmingham City will help improve their fortunes.

Rovers are to take on some of Blues' Academy players and give them first-team experience.

Midfielder Michael Jameson should figure in tonight's home Dr Martens League Western Div-ision clash with Sutton Coldfield Town (7.45), having made his debut in the defeat at Gresley.

More will follow with Rooney saying: "We won't be becoming a breeding ground for Birmingham City, but it will help us.

"Stewart Hall, one of the coaches with their academy, feels it will assist the boys as well.

Star striker Peter Sutton has left Rovers for Halesowen Town, with Rooney admitting: "He has a chance to go up a division and improve his status a bit, and there is not a lot you can do."
