KIDDERMINSTER Harriers' pleas for more support through the Agg-borough turnstiles are continuing to fall on deaf ears.

And with a bitterly disappointing average gate of around 2,400 so far this season the future looks far from rosy.

Indeed, very little has changed from Harriers non-league days when, for instance, the average attendance during the 1993-4 campaign was 2,250.

Kidderminster are currently in their third season in the Nationwide League Third Division and the mystifying apathy of the Wyre Forest public is taking its toll.

Millionaire Lionel Newton decided to quit as chairman some while ago because of the frustrating lack of support through the turnstiles and from local businesses.

And who could blame former Liverpool star Jan Molby for deciding to quit Aggborough manager's job and move to Hull City where an average crowd of around 9,000 turn up to watch their home Division Three matches?

Certainly, this term the grisly facts and figures surrounding hard-up Harriers gates make bleak reading.

The opening match of the season against Lincoln City attracted a crowd of 2,687 - and 465 were away supporters.

That figure dipped to 2,195 for the next home game against Exeter City, who brought 327 fans with them.

The following week Darlington were the visitors to Aggborough and had 319 of their own supporters in a crowd of 2,488. In the last home game 2,222 turned up to watch the goalless draw with Boston United who had a following of 258.

Such dismal attendances have Kidderminster officials pulling their hair out with frustration at the 'we're not interested' attitude of the local public.
