LUCKLESS Kidderminster Harriers striker Drewe Broughton suffered last-gasp heartache again as they had to settle for a goalless draw at Bournemouth last night.

The 23-year-old -- who missed a late penalty in Harriers' 1-1 draw against Lincoln on Saturday -- did almost the same at Dean Court in the Nationwide League Division Three clash.

Well into second half stoppage time, Broughton did all the hard work by dancing through from the halfway line to create a late, late opening for Kidderminster.

But, after outfoxing Bournemouth defender Shaun Maher on the edge of the box, Broughton lacked the poise and clinical finish that would have earned Harriers all three points.

With plenty of time to pick his spot from 20 yards out on the left, he cut inside Maher before weighing up his options.

However, with goalkeeper Chris Tardif hopelessly stuck in no-man's-land, Broughton somehow curled his measured left footer agonising one foot high and wide of the far post.

It was a bad miss by Broughton's standards, especially as he had carved out the chance so impressively himself after latching on to a loose ball in the centre circle.

He would also have wiped out the memory of his miss against Lincoln if he had hit the net down in Dorset.

As it was, Broughton had to take the good-natured ribbing of his team-mates in the dressing room afterwards on the chin.

It was particularly unfortunate he suffered his second last-gasp agony inside five days because he had revelled in his role as the lone striker in a defensive 4-5-1 formation employed by Kidderminster boss Ian Britton.

Harriers had rode their luck late in the second half as goalkeeper Stuart Brock reacted smartly to keep out three goalbound efforts from James Hayter, Derek Holmes and Warren Feeney.

But Kidderminster fully deserved their second point of the season against a side relegated from Division Two at the end of last term.

Britton said: "Drewe is gutted. He took a lot of stick from the lads for missing with his late effort, which I thought was going in.

"I'm happy with a point, though, even though we could have stolen all three."
