MORE than £300 has been donated to Acorns Children's Hospice Trust from the Portman Building Society.

The cash was raised by the society's members, in return for a 2002 Portman calendar.

"The Portman calendar has been popular with our customers for many years and, since 1997 when we began using this as a fund-raising tool, more than £100,000 has been passed on to good causes," said Kath Hewlett, Worcester branch manager.

"This year we're delighted to support the excellent work of the Acorns Children's Hospice Trust through this initiative."

The cash raised through the distribution of calendars was split between the Cancer and Leukaemia in Childhood charity and 10 regional organisations, including Acorns.

The calendar depicts 12 distinct features and landmarks that can be found within Portman's operating area, and 12 traditional recipes.
