A PLOUGH-A-THON staged to raise cash for Acorns Children's Hospice Trust has reaped £2,500 for the charity.

Twelve members of the West Midlands branch of The National Vintage Tractor and Engine Club spent 24 hours ploughing fields at Wormington, near Broadway.

"The plough-a-thon was successfully completed by members of the club," said organiser Ted Pratt.

He said the event, which began at 10am on Saturday, August 17, finished at 10am the following day.

"The event went very well and I was pleased by the effort put in by the participants," he added.

"At no time were there less than four ploughmen working.

"We ploughed 6.75acres and we walked behind pedestrian operated machines and some ride-on tractors."
