A PAIR of graduates have completed an assignment of a different class, after challenging themselves to walk for charity.

Mary Westwood and Maura Kelly, who graduated from Durham University in the summer, finished walking 320 miles for the Acorns Children's Hospice Trust Three Counties Appeal at the weekend.

The friends started from Westward Ho! in Devon and walked along the Devon and Cornwall coasts to Plymouth Hoe.

They arrived home on Sunday.

"I'm very tired," said 21-year-old Miss Westwood, who lives in Shrawley, near Worcester.

"We had lots of hills and steep cliffs to climb but we had gorgeous weather.

"It was good fun.

"We're still counting the money, but it's looking good."

The pair decided to mount the challenge after the launch of the Three Counties Appeal to build a new hospice on Bath Road, Worcester.

Maura's mum is also a volunteer at Acorns' Selly Oak Hospice.

The mammoth trek took the women three weeks, with an average 13 miles covered each day.

"We just want everyone who supported us to know that we've done it," said Miss Westwood.
