ORGANISERS of the Acorns Children's Hospice Three Counties Appeal are celebrating the best fund-raising month they have had so far.

During November the appeal grew by a further £102,000, raised by people in Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

"The response to our appeal to build the new hospice, which will help over 150 life-limited youngsters, has just been amazing and this is just the kind of boost we need," said Fran Winterbourn, community fund-raising co-ordinator.

"Each month, we are getting that bit nearer to the £4m we need to build and equip the new hospice."

The appeal total now stands at £1.92m, with £5,452 being raised by fund-raisers and supporters in Gloucestershire, £11,733 in Herefordshire and £78,914 in Worcestershire. Fund-raisers in other areas raised the remaining £5,901.

"People are rallying to our call to join in with the fund-raising and help us reach the halfway mark of £2m by Christmas," said Mrs Winterbourn.

"This would be such good news for all our supporters and the many families who so desperately need the help and support of the new hospice.

"We need to keep this level of progress going into the New Year and beyond so we can start work on building the new hospice as soon as possible. I'd be delighted to hear from anyone who'd like help the Three Counties Appeal in whatever way they can."
