BROMSGROVE Rovers are preparing to open transfer talks with Gresley Rovers midfielder Mark Peters.

Peters, part of the Gresley squad beaten 5-0 by Rovers in the FA Cup in September, is one of three players who have been shortlisted by the Victoria Ground club.

Joint managers Gary Hackett and Jon Ford have also contacted Evesham's Nathan Jukes and Redditch United's Richard Softley in an attempt to solve their midfield crisis but both approaches appeared to have failed.

Hackett said Peters was the more likely of the trio to sign but he hoped to have a midfielder in place for the trip to Cinderford Town on Saturday week.

Neil Cartwright is still suffering with a hamstring injury and is doubtful for the Cinderford match while Grant Beckett, injured against Solihull Borough, is ruled out for a few weeks with a knee injury.

With no fixture this Saturday, the squad has time to recover from the Merthyr Tydfil defeat.

Hackett said: "We won't let one defeat get us down."
