BROMSGROVE Rovers probably came the closest they ever will to picking up the FA Cup when sponsors AXA brought the trophy to the Victoria Ground last night.

Director of Football Steve Daniels admitted there was a buzz around the place after the club received a call from AXA saying they were bringing the famous cup to the Midlands.

Rovers are at home to Dr Martens League Premier Division side Tamworth in the second qualifying round tomorrow (3pm) and have fitness doubts over Matt Coppin and Frazer McHugh.

"It's fantastic to have the FA Cup actually at the club and everybody was excited by it," he said.

"This has given an extra edge to tomorrow's match and hopefully it will attract a few more to watch the match."

Michael Moore, who returned to goalscoring form for Rovers with a superb late winner against Paget Rangers in the Midland Alliance last week, is in the squad.

Daniels will be looking to the former Stourbridge ace to get among the goals after the departure of Sam Bowen to Evesham Town, who struck nine goals during his short spell with Rovers.

Daniels also revealed he is making seven-day applications for Evesham United's Stuart Payne and Redditch United's Scott Colcombe and is confident of bringing one or both to the club.
