THE ladies section at the Worcestershire Golf Club continues to flourish and over 50 competitors played in the monthly stableford competition.

Sadly, the lady captain Kate Foster was not one of the competitors as she is recovering from a severe Achilles tendon injury, which has prevented her playing for several weeks now. She is making good progress and, with the plaster removed this week, she is hoping to make her playing comeback shortly.

In Division One, confined to those ladies with a handicap below 20, the competition was keen.

Of the 15 ladies playing in this division, Jenny Simms was in superb form and completed her round way ahead of the rest of the field. Playing faultless golf, off a handicap of 20, Jenny returned the very impressive stableford score of 42 points. As a result of this performance, Jenny's handicap has been reduced by two shots to 18.

Jenny's score was seven points better than the lady vice-captain Jane Tromans who returned a score of 35 points. In third place was Sheila Evans who scored 34 points.

In Division Two, 33 ladies competed but only one, Jean Coleman, bettered the par for the course. Jean, wife of former club captain Brian, was in good form and returned a score of 38 points.

She was two points better than Audrey Emery, wife of senior captain Gordon, who was placed second. Three ladies returned scores of 34 and could only be separated on the usual count back system. On count back Sally Agnew was placed fifth, Joan Howarth fourth and Hazel Cartledge third.

In Division Three Jenny Butler had a good round scoring five points better than par. Jenny returned a score of 41 and she was eight points better than Faith Tubbs who came second with a score of 33 points.
