ANCHOR FALCONS 5, AFC NORTHWICK RES 0

ANCHOR Falcons completed their first double of the season in emphatic style on Sunday.

Their goals came from a superb hat-trick from outstanding winger Rich Bryan and a brace for leading marksman Dave Jenkinson.

Following a 1-0 win in the reverse fixture the Falcons were expecting a tough test and despite being restricted to just 11 players due to injury, they controlled the game for long periods and defended well all game.

The first half showing was as good a performance as manager Andy Fletcher, forced to sit this out due to a foot injury, has seen all season. Fluid passing, quick breaks and solid defending and yet only a 1-0 lead to show for it. Rich Bryan collected a ball some 30 yards out and blasted an unstoppable drive into the roof of the net.

Chances came and went with Rich Lambert and Jenkinson causing lots of problems and target man Ben Ratcliffe proving his talents with some brilliant support play. However, the Falcons had to wait until after the break to really hammer home their superiority. Bryan scored two more trademark goals as the visiting defence seemed bemused by the bounce of the ball on a hard pitch while Jenkinson foraged away and was deserving of his two strikes and the man of the match vote.

It could have been more but for some over-zealous shooting and a couple of outstanding saves from the visiting keeper. Only a few times did the visitors threaten and when they did Shane Oseman in the Falcons goal was again on top form, and the defence in front of him stood firm.

A very satisfying result for Anchor Falcons with the side finally showing how well it can play when things go well.

If they can carry this form on to this Sunday's home encounter with Barbourne Celtic then another three points is surely within their reach. Players meet Dukes Meadow at 9.45am.

- The March draw for the club's '100 Club' will take place in the Anchor after the game.
