NEW INN PERSHORE 2002 2, WEST MALVERN 2

WEST Malvern gave a much improved performance from the previous week and returned from Pershore with a creditable draw.

The game opened brightly and the West were in front inside six minutes. New signing Derek Brown scored after good build up involving Lee Tracey and Ken McEwan. Although they continued to push forward and had numerous chances the West failed to convert any and New Inn came back strongly to equalise. West continued to have the upper hand and with Duncan Mckerragher organising the back four they gave New Inn few chances.

The second half continued the pattern of the first half with the West going looking for goals and in the 60th minute they went back in front. Lee Tracey turned in to the box and rounded the defender only to be upended. From the resulting spot kick Tracey scored.

West Malvern continued to push forward but in the 85th minute a long ball caught the West defence square and the player ran on to score.

Overall though a much improved West performance all round.

Tomorrow (Saturday) the West are away to Koinonia, players meet 2pm Eurohaus, Malvern Link.

Due to fixture congestion the West will be playing every Tuesday, starting April 8, with a quarter final cup match against Goodrest Sports at home.

West Malvern are sponsored by Amey.
