A 15-YEAR-OLD physically handicapped boy, Adrian Holmes of Brueton Avenue was voted Bromsgrove Sports Council's junior male personality of the year. Adrian had an 18-inch steel brace in his back. The supreme men's award went to top-flight soccer referee John Yates.

FIFTEEN Bromsgrove GPs who provided a 24-hour part time casualty service at the Cottage Hospital claimed they could not spare the time to cover for their counterparts in Redditch if they went on strike over a pay dispute.

MANY local people making neighbourhood house to house collections for residents to be involved in the forthcoming Queen's silver jubilee celebrations were shocked when Bromsgrove council said they could be breaking the law if they did not make it clear the cash was to pay for such events as street parties and bonfires.

THE Bromsgrove born poet and scholar A E Housman's birthday was celebrated in Ludlow, where he is buried. The commemorations, which included a dinner, a parade through the town and a church service during which some of his poems were read, was organised by the Housman Society.
