NINE records tumbled when Bromsgrove High School held its annual sports day. Hibbins won the inter house competition.

THE 16th annual Catshill music festival attracted a record number of entries from far and near to take part in the event staged in the secondary school on Saturday. Six women's choirs entered, the winner being Madam Evelyn Crees' Crescent Ladies' Choir.

NEW figures released by the Registrar General for 1950/51, revealed that the population in the Bromsgrove urban district had gone up by 750, the second largest number in the county. Bromsgrove rural on the other hand had 30 fewer residents. Both Droitwich districts showed an increase, the rural area's advance of 890 being the largest of all.

A QUICK look at the prices at Bromsgrove's Tuesday market showed strawberries made 2/6 (12.5p) per pound, gladioli 12/- (60p) per dozen spikes, new potatoes 21/- (£1.50) a hundredweight and wood pigeons 3/6 (17.5p) a couple.

A PARTY of young foreign visitors, mostly Danes, were at St Oswald's Camp in Rubery. They were taken to see several local places of interest, including Dudley Zoo.
