ASPIRING gardeners were invited to learn more about potting, planting and pruning at Bromsgrove School of Science and Art. The New Road school was offering free tickets for a lecture on gardening. They were available from Thomas Horton.

SPA residents were left shocked when a young man was involved in motorcycle accident. Harry Greaves, of Croft House, was travelling along Stoney Bridge Hill, in Hampton Lovett, when his motorcycle collapsed and he was thrown to the ground. Passing veterinary surgeon Mr Batty said the vehicle simply split into two parts. He called for the town doctor Mr Pilkington and poor Harry was treated for severe cuts, concussion and shock back at his home.

ASTON Fields schoolboy William Bradley was hauled before Bromsgrove Petty Sessions after being caught red-handed setting off fireworks in the road. The Charford Road resident was bound over for good behaviour in the future and warned about the perils of playing with fire.

RUBERY residents living in the Eachway were enjoying a clean and fresh supply of water to their homes after work fitting a main connection was complete. However householders still had no electric lights.

THE Board of Guardians at Bromsgrove Workhouse heard that female inmates had been treated with a trip to the Alexandra Theatre, thanks to a kind benefactor. And a bumper load of magazines for the women had been donated to the Birmingham Road site. Members at the meeting were also told that the workhouse could not accept any more tramps from Redditch.
