EVESHAM United booked their place in the Worcestershire Senior Cup final with a shock 1-0 victory against Moor Green in last night's semi-final at Common Road.

The odds were stacked against United even before the kick-off. Their main strike force of Mark Shepherd and Wesley Joyce were already absent and then goalkeeper Tim Hart pulled out with a shoulder injury just before kick-off.

But United were full value for their win. They never allowed Moor Green to settle and now face Bromsgrove Rovers or Halesowen Town in the final.

Teenager Craig Ladek, drafted in for the injured Hart, held a well struck strike from Moors leading scorer, Nathan Lamey and then repeated the save to claw away a Danny Scheppel drive.

United themselves had their moments early on. Moors' goalkeeper Adam Rachel saved from Inderpaul Khela and then Paul West curled an effort just wide.

The goal that was to send United into their second final in three seasons arrived in the 24th minute. Paul Oakey was fouled on the right and Khela came storming in to ram the ball home.

Scott Mullen went close to adding a second on their hour mark, but headed wide after Rachel had miskicked.

With time running out, The Moors threw men forward in search of an equaliser. But Khela came closest to adding to the scoreline when his first-time shot from a Grant Pinkney cross was gathered at the second attempt by Rachel.
