A STREETFIGHT broke out in a Worcester pub after football fans clashed with city drinkers, a jury heard.

Hereford fans were ordered out of a pub when they began singing an IRA song at the top of their voices.

But they then clashed with Worcester punters outside Hoolahan's in Angel Place, said Tracey Lloyd-Nesling, prosecuting.

She alleged that Dean Daly became involved in the violence but came off worst when he was knocked into a flower stall.

Daly, aged 27, of Linden Road, Tolladine, Worcester, denies affray.

The jury at Worcester Crown Court was told that five other men had already pleaded guilty to affray. A sixth had admitted threatening behaviour.

The incident began around 4pm on July 20, last year, when boisterous Hereford fans were told by Hoolahan's manager Adam Samuel to leave.

He was punched on the head and threatened with a beer glass before the dozen supporters spilled out into the street.

Miss Lloyd-Nesling said a nasty incident then blew up. She claimed Daly made "come on" gestures with his hands to rivals, egging them on to fight.

She alleged he was seen kicking one man before ending up on the ground himself and being arrested.

Mr Samuel, who alerted police to the scene, said he had felt very intimidated by the worst incident of violence he had ever witnessed.

The trial continues.
