PRESIDENT Angela welcomed everyone to the first 2003 meeting.
After singing Jerusalem, members were introduced to the speakers, Mr and Mrs Noyce.
They gave a talk entitled Travels in Nepal accompanied by slides.
They journeyed to Kathmandu and then on to do the walk up the Everest trail, reaching a height of 13,000 feet.
It was extremely steep climbing, with breathtaking scenery.
The rhododendrons were as big as trees and the bridges which had to be crossed were hair-raising experiences.
They found the people cheerful and peaceful.
The slides gave a wonderful insight into their journey.
Margaret Sheldon gave the vote of thanks for an entertaining talk.
After refreshments, the business part of the meeting took place.
Minutes of the last meeting were read, approved and signed and items of interest in the newsletter discussed.
The spring council meeting is on March 19 at Leamington Spa and names were invited of those wishing to attend the Park Street Players performance in May.
The competition for an unusual Christmas card was won by M Cargill, with J E Scott second.
Raffle winners were Mrs Taylor, M Bryan and A Silvester.
There will be a silent auction at the next meeting on February 13 at Malt Mill Lane centre.
