Wollescote Sports 0 Tenbury United 2

TENBURY United gave another solid team performance to record their 11th Kidderminster League Premier Division win of the season and hold on to second place in the table behind runaway leaders Cookley Social.

Both teams struggled on the very heavy surface and much of the early play was confined to the middle of the field.

The visitors soon realised that the best way forward was down the flanks. Ryan Morris was always menacing and it was his fine solo run down the left that produced the first goal.

He beat a couple of defenders and got to the by-line before swinging a dangerous, low cross into the box. George Pearson flicked the ball goalwards and a Woolescote defender could only help it into his own net.

Karl Pearson almost set up a second for Tenbury when he made a surge down the right and picked out Graham Caldicott with his pin-point cross, the striker just screwing his shot wide of the target. Minutes later the same two combined for Caldicott to find the net but the goal was ruled out for off-side.

Woolescote stepped up their game after the break and it was Tenbury's turn to defend. They did this well and on the occasions that they did get through home goalkeeper Byron Davies distinguished himself with a couple of fine saves.

Left-back Stuart Wilson rescued Tenbury, clearing a shot off the line but the visitors responded by grabbing a second goal.

Again it was Morris who did the damage when his fine run and cross allowed Karl Pearson to side-foot home and clinch victory.
