Leintwardine Colts 5 Dorstone 0

LEINTWARDINE produced one of their best team performances of the season to claim their fifth Hereford Times Hereford-shire League Division 2 victory of the season, with skipper Phil Stokes and Rob Morris both grabbing a brace.

Morris gave them a dream start with a goal in the first minute. Straight from the kick-off Chris Cooke made ground down the left before sending over a deep cross which Morris hammered home at the far post.

Although Leintwardine continued to have the better of play they failed to convert a couple of half chances. Dorstone weathered the pressure and came back strongly before the break but were held out by a well organised home defence backed up by some good saves from goalkeeper Glyn Williams.

After the break Leintwar-dine stepped up a gear and started to control the mid-field and create chances. Skipper Phil Stokes was always causing problems and in the 10th minute of the second period he picked himself up to convert a spot kick after he had been bundled over in the box. A minute later Stokes grabbed his second when he chested down a well flighted free kick from Andrew Tilson to hit the target with a crisp drive.

Leintwardine were in full flow and Morris extended the lead when he beat a couple of defenders in a fine solo run before firing home from just inside the box.

With the game well and truly won defender Steve Morgan completed the scoring when he moved up to support the attack and picked up another well directed Tilson free kick to clip home goal number five.
