Wolverhampton 3 Cleobury 0
Cleobury Ladies' National League side travelled to Wolverhampton for a difficult match, missing their influential captain and were aware of the reputation of a much strengthened, and in- form Wolves side.
Cleobury started brightly but tailed off quickly to hand an easy victory to the home side.
The first set contained the best spell for Cleobury. Briefly they showed a good fighting spirit and remained in contention at 12:9. Sam O'Connor caused problems through the middle but the first pass was too inconsistent and she received far too infrequent service. A run of five serves took Wolves into a commanding position and broke the spirit of the Cleobury team. The away side marched home easily 25:13.
The second set was a bit of a non event. Wolves leapt straight into a 9:2 lead and Cleobury never looked capable of stopping the rot, far too many errors creeping into their game. Eva Mort found the floor with a well placed line hit but the kills were too few and far between. Wolves claimed the set easily 25:14.
The third set saw the same end result despite some clever tips from Becky Brookes and a great pick up from Sam Harding back court. Again an easy victory for Wolves, 25:14.
Cleobury ladies seem to be suffering from a loss of confidence after such an extended run of losses. Somehow though they have to find a way to get back to winning ways or they will find themselves in serious regulation trouble.
The next two matches at home are crucial as they involve two teams below them, Cleobury have to win!
