A WOMAN suffered nasty bruising on her face after tripping on a paving slab in Rubery High Street, last Friday.
Joan Boam, who is a receptionist at City Scaffold on the Oakalls Estate, Bromsgrove, tripped over the uneven paving slab and suffered two black eyes, a thick lip, broken glasses and a cut on the bridge of her nose.
The 64-year-old mother of three said: "It really shook me up. My glasses were broken so I had to drive home without them, which was probably very dangerous."
The fall occurred outside Swinton Insurance on New Road, which is next to Barclays. Joan said the women who worked at the insurance brokers were very helpful and dressed her wounds.
Joan added: "As a receptionist I do a lot of meeting and greeting, and this has really knocked my confidence."
Joan has said she is planning to take legal action against Worcestershire County Council, which has responsibility for maintaining roads and pavements.
Jon Fraser, manager of the Worcestershire Highways Partnership in Bromsgrove, said: "We inspect New Road in Rubery regularly but obviously sometimes accidents occur. We will be investigating the matter and fixing the slab as soon as possible."
