DEAR EDITOR - In reply to Action for Droitwich and the armchair critics, isn't it about time you stood up and were counted?
I have never yet read any positive comments on how you all see Droitwich Spa progressing - only negatives.
As I see it, the council, which includes all parties, is trying to secure a future for our town.
The redevelopment of the lido (not closure) is essential. The demolition of the Worcestershire Hotel - inevitable. Waitrose supermarket - an excellent addition and eventually the repair and restoration of our canals.
These alone can only serve to help Droitwich Spa to prosper yet again. I know decisions made at council level will never suit everybody but I am sure the best interest of our town is only upmost in their minds.
As for the recent comment about the Mayor of Droitwich Spa - I wonder if the critic really knows what the role is all about.
First and foremost, it is a voluntary and unpaid role. The Mayor becomes the First Citizen of the town with a view to promoting it to the best of his/her ability and I don't think we in Droitwich Spa have been let down.
Kate Spencer,
Waterside,
Droitwich Spa.
