BROMSGROVE School's U15s rugby team have failed to reach the last four of a national competition.

The team was defeated 13-8 by Warrington-based Lymm High School in the quarter-final of the Daily Mail Cup at the Worcester Road school last Thursday.

But, following excellent and tight victories over Warwick School and Bedford Modern in the previous two rounds, the dream of a Twickenham final came to an end.

In a close affair, Lymm took an early 3-0 lead from a penalty in front of the posts but Bromsgrove hit straight back to score an unconverted Tom Green try.

Another penalty apiece, Bromsgrove's from Tom Hupfield, gave the hosts an 8-6 half time lead.

Each side missed a penalty in the second half an it was the visitors who pounced on a loose ball in midfield to score a breakaway converted try.
