BROMSGROVE RFC First XV coach David Stout insists there is still all to play for in Midlands One this season despite seeing his side slip further into the relegation mire.

Bromsgrove's narrow 20-16 home defeat against Spalding last Saturday was their tenth in 13 games and leaves them without a league victory since October.

The result also puts them second bottom of the league, with only Barkers Butts, yet to score a point, below them.

And an already injury blighted season was not helped when three players went off injured inside the first 20 minutes.

Ben Eason and Alan Haley went off with hamstring injuries, followed by Richard Arnold having to leave the field with a head injury.

Stout though remains optimistic about the team's survival chances.

He said: "Every week that passes clearly reduces the time to get out of relegation. I still maintain that there's no team in this league we can't beat. We are still perfectly capable of winning."

But the coach was disappointed at the way Bromsgrove squandered decent chances to get something out of the game.

He added: "The thing that disappointed me was the last ten minutes of the game when we had opportunities and made poor decisions and gifted them possession.

"We had the chance to win it and we didn't quite take it. These games are often won and lost in the last ten minutes and we have to be able to force the advantage when we have got it."

The first opportunity to put that theory into practise comes this Saturday when Bromsgrove travel to Dunstablians.
