Evesham United romped to their biggest home win of the season after beating Shepshed Dynamo 5-1 in the Dr Martens Western Division.

The game was effectively over as a contest by half time. The Robins were leading 4-0 and coasting to victory thanks to two goals each from Wesley Joyce and Mark Shepherd.

Although Shepshed looked useful early on, it was United who took the lead in the ninth minute. Joyce got on the end of an Andy Smith cross and slipped the ball home past Steve Gibson.

On 28 minutes Mark Wolsey's ball over the top set up Shepherd who lobbed home number two.

Two more goals in the final six minutes of the half put the game out of Shepshed's reach.

Joyce broke clear and squared the ball to Shepherd who walked the ball in for the third and two minutes later Joyce again got behind the Shepshed defence and drilled in a low shot for the fourth.

United took their foot off the pedal in the second half but still created enough chances to double their score.

It was Shepshed though who pulled a goal back on 12 minutes. In attempting to clear, the unfortunate Smith headed James Blastland's cross into his own net.

Gibson went on to save from Shepherd, twice and Wolsey, before United bagged a fifth in the last minute. Gary Barnett netted with a wonderful dipping volley from 25 yards to make it nine goals for United in their last two games.
