THE sound of music is filtering through the halls of low-security prison Hewell Grange after a new group opened a creative outlet for inmates.
Prison chaplain The Rev Peter Hammersley and other members of staff discussed the possibility of creating a group for prisoners who wished to learn to read music, play an instrument or develop existing skills.
After the idea was mooted, many of the men expressed their interest, some already being quite proficient guitar players wishing to improve.
The public's help is now needed if the group is to develop and more instruments need to be found.
Anyone with electric or acoustic guitars, a flute, clarinet, trumpet, saxophone or drums they no longer need can donate them to the group by calling Mr Hammersley on 550843 ext 216.
