IN THE Bromsgrove & Redditch Table Tennis League last week there were two 10-0 victories in Division 1.

Barnt Green's team of Pat McCabe, Mark Cornish and Jason McFaul were much too good for West Midlands Phones A, winning easily and League leaders Lickey Monarchs beat SPSP in a game that lasted almost two hours.

Carter Retail A were easy 9-1 winners over West Midlands Phones B. The Phones' only win came when Colin would beat Gary Jackson 23-21 20-22 25-23.

Closest game of the week was between Astwood Bank and Droitwich with the Bank winning 7-3. Jim Connor stood out for the Bank, winning his three games, backed up by Ken Southwell's two wins and Pete Kelly's one.

Connor and Kelly also won the doubles. Chris Harris did best for Droitwich, winning two with his son Phil getting the other.

In Division 2 the Hillcrest team of Graeme Farrell, Alan McLoughlan and Mark Cohen were too strong for Carter Retail C, winning 10-0.

There was another one-sided game between Studley Road Nomads and Droitwich C with Nomads winning 9-1.

Captain Bernie Leech and Jeff Lines were both unbeaten for Nomads.

Alan Davey got Droitwich's only win.

Carter Retail C had a good 6-4 win at home to Studley Road Terriers when five of the games went to best of three.

Steve Dimbylow was the star for Carter, winning all his games, Brian Askey won two and they then teamed up to win the all-important doubles for victory.

Captain Peter Hartles did best for Studley, winning two games.

John Dignum and Steve Demercado got one each.

In the local derby between Barnt Green Hornets and Barnt Green B the B team won 6-4 when they won the final game, the doubles.

For Hornets Ivor Anderson did best, winning two with Neil Anderson and Tony Lawton getting one each.

Pat McCabe was outstanding for Barnt Green B, winning all his games.

Mike Evetts also did well, winning two. McCable and Evetts then teamed up in the doubles to beat Anderson and Lawton 21-13 21-19.
