PUBLIC opinion backed by a 590-strong petition has won the day and forced Tenbury Town Council to look again at plans to re-site the Regal bus shelter.

At the full meeting on Monday, they unanimously voted to reverse their earlier decision after local views were discussed by councillors.

The proposal, from Cllr. George Price recommended that 'the council would continue to approve in full the proposed parking restrictions, but the Town Council now feel unable to support the re-siting of the bus shelter." Petition organiser Cllr. Margaret Austin said: "This is brilliant and goes to show that the public know what they want and we must back them.

"I want to thank everyonewho helped with and signed our petition and I hope the Highways Partnership will take notice."

Town mayor, Cllr. Keith Griffiths said: " We are a caring council and listen to the views of the people we represent."
