YOUNGSTERS at a first school had plenty to smile about when they achieved a healthy school award.
Pupils at Sytchampton First School, near Ombersley, received a certificate from Cath Philipson, a personal and social and health education adviser (PSHE), when she visited the school with her team.
The certificate was awarded as part of a healthy school programme where pupils were assessed on a variety of healthy issues.
"They were assessed on eating fruit as part of the Government fruit scheme, setting up the school council, and children's emotional health," said Sarah Lines, healthy schools co-ordinator, and a reception class teacher at the school .
Mrs Lines said a school council had been set up two years ago, and pupils held elections and ballots to choose who should sit on it.
"It was all done officially and the children enjoyed it," she said.
"There are 10 youngsters between the ages of seven and nine on the school council.
