Shepshed Dynamo 0 Redditch United 4

REDDITCH fans went home happy after seeing their team rack up their second four goal haul in successive matches in a game delayed by half an hour because of congestion on the A42.

But the four goal scoreline does not tell the whole story and United were once again grateful to on-loan wide man Simon Hollis for scoring the all-important opener.

The Reds had to wait until the 76th minute to make the breakthrough and by that time the game looked to be heading for a goalless stalemate.

But up popped the Solihull man at the far post to guide home a difficult headed chance from sub Matty Hall's corner.

Winger-turned midfielder Alex Cowley headed against the bar in the opening exchanges before Simon Forsdick wasted a good chance at the opposite end.

Jimmy Quiggan brought Shepshed keeper Jordan King into action and United would have been ahead at half time if Naveed Arshad had not made a horrible mess of straightforward chances in the 28th and 29th minutes.

Redditch switched to a 3-5-2 formation with the introduction of Nikki Clarke as a left wing back at half time.

Hollis was wide of the mark twice and Forsdick was inches away from putting the hosts in front before United reverted to a 4-4-2 17 minutes later.

Redditch had another let-off when the gangly Justin Jenkins was narrowly off target but Hollis' intervention turned the game on its head.

Nine minutes from time King and sub Adam Stevens got into a mess to eventually present Cowley a Christmas gift and three minutes later the scorer turned provider - running on to a delightful Hollis ball before squaring for Hall to score into an empty net.

And Arshad's perseverance was rewarded in injury time, after another exquisite Hollis ball, when the forward lobbed the ball over reserve keeper Steve Gibson before firing home.
