REDS number two Gary Whild said efforts to rearrange the Sutton Coldfield Town fixture for tonight had fallen through.
And the Valley assistant manager said he doubted whether the Coles Lane pitch would be playable yet after Saturday's postponement.
Whild said a win was vital at home to fellow strugglers RC Warwick on Saturday.
"This match has added importance because they are one of the teams we need to be picking points up off," he said.
"It's a game we should be looking to win to get some breathing space and relax as the season goes on rather than scrapping for points."
United are set to have a clean bill of health for the weekend.
