TEENAGE hotshot Kevin Jones impressed on his competitive Reds debut in last night's charged 4-3 win at Stourport Swifts.

Fans' favourite Paul Danks missed Saturday's 5-1 friendly romp against Express and Star league leaders Causeway United with a troublesome back problem.

And with Danks watching from the stands 17-year-old Jones had an energetic debut.

The youngster scored in the weekend friendly, arranged because United were without a league match, and has caught the eye of the management duo in similar games against Feckenham and Studley.

Midfielder Mark Swann was also out with a niggling thigh injury.

United assistant manager Whild was happy with the weekend results which saw bottom club Swindon Supermarine thumped 5-0 by Atherstone United and fellow strugglers Rocester and RC Warwick draw 0-0.

"It's looking likely only one club will go down this season and after a bit of form, Swindon look to be struggling again."

Lee Booth bagged another brace for United at Causeway's adopted Grove stadium home and Whild said the goals would lift the former Stourport favourite.

Whild denied there was any chance of Booth leaving the club after a seven day approach from Alliance neighbours Bromsgrove Rovers.

Stourport's complaint about an alleged illegal approach for forward Lee Booth has been referred to the FA by the Birmingham County FA after a meeting on Monday.
