REDDITCH United head for fellow Dr Martens Western Division strugglers Racing Club Warwick on Saturday on the back of an unprecedented winning run, writes David Lawrence.

It may only be two games since Reds tasted defeat but manager Rod Brown is keen for that run to continue as he continues to build for the new season.

Wins at Cirencester Town last week and Saturday's home defeat of Sutton Coldfield Town - the first time United have won back-to-back league matches this season - have hoisted them well and truly clear of the relegation scrap.

And another three points from their near neighbours will cap a complete change of fortunes for the Valley Stadium side.

"Habits can be difficult to get out of," Brown said. "When we arrived at the club it was clear that Redditch had a losing habit.

"It has taken a while to lose that habit but it started happening a few weeks back. We were putting in a good 45 minutes but not sustaining it.

"The Bedworth game was one we should have won and at Sutton Coldfield we got turned over in the last couple of minutes.

"Now that we have that winning understanding I am very confident we will do well in our remaining games this season."

And the manager said the two matches against Sutton Coldfield showed just how far the Reds have come.

"Sutton were a side in the top six or seven and we totally out-played them both home and away. And that is with a team that will be strengthened by seven or eight new players next season," Brown said.

Saturday's trip to Warwick is followed by a Bank Holiday Monday clash with Evesham United (ko 3pm), a team managed by former Redditch boss Phil Mullen.
