REDDITCH United are awaiting a decision from star striker Paul Danks about his plans for next season.

Manager Rod Brown and assistant Gary Whild have met twice with the leading scorer with United holding an option of extending his contract for another year.

"Paul has told us he does not want to leave for a club in the same division and probably not for one a division higher," said Whild.

"If he leaves he is hoping for at least a move to the Conference."

United would at least be able to cash in if Danks left because he is too young for a Bosman free transfer.

Bids of £2,000 have been made from title hopefuls Halesowen Town and neighbours Solihull Borough this season and Ilkeston made a deadline day offer rumoured to be around £5,000 for the forward.

Whild said the remaining players had been invited back for pre-season training and none had indicated any desire to leave.

"They know we are looking to bring players in so we have been straight with them," added Whild.

Defender Quentin Townsend has been ruled out for the last two matches with a groin injury and with striker Lee Booth looking to arrange a double knee op as soon as possible he is only likely to appear because of an injury crisis.
