A TEENAGER threatened to break a policeman's legs after officers were called to a disturbance in a block of flats.

Kevin Rudd was with his girlfriend together with a group of others inside his first-floor flat in Orchard Court, Malvern, when they began shouting loudly and abusively.

Worcester Magistrates heard how policemen were called to the scene when the 18-year-old then began to provoke and verbally attack the officers.

Prosecuting, Julie Rosamond said officers warned Rudd to stop shouting during the incident on Monday, November 11, at 2.15pm.

"The police described his behaviour as provocative," she said.

"They asked him to stop shouting, but he stared aggressively and knocked the police officer on the shoulder.

"He then walked away and turned to the officer shouting, 'I will break your legs'.

Rudd from Lavender Walk, Malvern admitted using threatening and abusive behaviour.

Defending, Mark Sheward said his client had been ''embarrassed'' by his own behaviour.

"He had been at his flat, when an argument took place, which he was not involved with," he said.

"He only became involved when the police became involved.

"He was arrested with his girlfriend, who was given a conditional discharge.

"He was embarrassed by his behaviour. He was reacting to events as they were unfolding."

Magistrates gave Rudd a conditional discharge of 12 months and ordered him to pay a £30 fine and £55 towards costs.
