A WORCESTER pub is encouraging youngsters to have fun going green.

The Perdiswell is inviting children to recycle their Christmas cards by posting them in the special talking post box in its Wacky Warehouse play area.

The cards will then be given to The Woodland Trust, which conserves native woodland, for recycling.

David Barker, manager of the Droitwich Road pub, said it was a great use of the talking post box, which had already been used by hundreds of youngsters to send their present lists to Santa.

"The post box has been a real winner with the children, because it talks every time a letter is posted," he said, adding that 2.5 billion Christmas cards were sent each year in Britain.

"Recycling is quite a difficult topic to teach children so we're hoping that this may sow the seeds for further learning."

The talking post box will be available at the Perdiswell Wacky Warehouse as a Christmas card recycling point until Monday, January 20.
