recycling festive debris left over when Santa has departed for another year will make for a green Christmas.

Scouts in Ledbury and Colwall are offering collection services for Christmas trees.

The 1st Ledbury pack is collecting from residents on Sunday, January 5, for £2.

Collection forms are available from tree retailers in the area, and should be posted in one of the Scouts' Christmas postboxes at various points in the town. Trees collected will be shredded and used as garden mulch.

In Colwall, posters advertising the 1st Colwall Scouts' collection service should go up around the village next weekend.

Many people remember to recycle bottles after Christmas, with bottle banks located around the Malvern and Ledbury areas, but a nationwide campaign by Glasspac aims to remind people that glass food jars can also be recycled.

Paul Sobczyk, head of client services at Malvern Hills District Council, asked that people recycling bottles and glass after the festive season do so over a period of time, to avoid clogging up bottle banks.

"Immediately after Christmas we always have an operational challenge with the sheer number of bottles in the bottle banks," he said.

"People do tend to consume a lot more things that can be recycled over Christmas. I would urge people to make the effort to recycle these."
