CREATIVE talent and originality were the qualities being sought by a panel of judges in Malvern's Christmas window competition.

Malvern's mayor, Frances Victory, Mary Wilkinson, chairman of Malvern Hills District Council, town councillor Ann Silk and Dudley Brook, chairman of Malvern Art Club, weighed up the various entries.

The theme this year was 'pantomime', and Hunt's the Florists scooped top prize of family tickets to Dick Whittington, this year's panto at Malvern Theatres.

The most original window in Great Malvern was Easy Travel, with Oxfam second and Keys of Malvern third.

Most creative window in the town centre went to British Red Cross Group, with Oxfam in second again and Keys just behind.

Barnards Green's most original window belonged to Poppy's Hairdressing Salon, with Hunt's the Florist in second place. The order was reversed in the most creative window section.

Prizes for Malvern Link's most original window and most creative window both went to the British Red Cross Group, while Hair Beauty and Health pipped John Jenkins Motorcycles to the title of most original window in Link Top. John Jenkins won most creative window for the area, knocking Hair Beauty and Health into second spot.
