WHEN you sit down to tuck into your Christmas dinner this week, spare a thought for Dyson Perrins Sixth Form student Kay Bushnell.

She won't be eating on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day after deciding to do a sponsored famine to raise money for children living in war torn countries.

It's a sacrifice not many of us would be willing to make at Christmas and one which should make those of us lucky enough to be able to sit down and enjoy a meal with our families reflect on our good fortune.

For too many Christmas can be a sad and lonely time.

Fortunately, there are people like Kay and her mum and many other unsung heroes and heroines who every Christmas are prepared to give up some of their time to make it a special day for other people and hat's off to them.

We should like to wish all our readers and advertisers a Happy Christmas. Rather than sending Christmas cards, this year we are making a donation to the Acorns Children's Hospice Trust.

Next week's edition of the Malvern Gazette & Ledbury Reporter (December 27) is being printed before Christmas. The deadline is Monday morning (December 23) so if you have any news items, you need to think ahead.
