I was very interested in Barry Pearson's 13 ideas for making Great Malvern more attractive to visitors (Your Letters, November 29).

Here is another possibility but it may be better for Malvern Hills Conservators not to read this!

How about a cable car taking people from the town centre up to St Anne's Well? The Victorians used donkeys but I don't think this would be acceptable these days.

There is a beautiful but rather under-used area at the end of Rose Bank Gardens next to the flight of steps going up to St Anne's Road. This could be the position for the starting point.

I can imagine sailing up through the trees with a panoramic view of Priory Church and the Mount Pleasant and Abbey Hotel gardens unfolding below. It would continue in a straight line, up and over the zig-zag path with an ever increasing view across the Severn plain, and ending at the side of St Anne's Knoll.

From here it would be but a short walk either to St Anne's Well or any of the other hill paths. The total distance would be only about 200 metres but a considerable height (about 75 metres) would be gained thereby also giving access to many people who would otherwise be daunted by the climb.

Children would enjoy coming to Malvern - serious competition for cable car rides in Matlock and further afield!

Rose Bank Gardens was donated to the people of Malvern by C W Dyson Perrins in 1918. Surely he would be pleased to see its use increase and benefit the shops, hotels and cafes nearby.

Of course, the area around St Anne's Well would need some changes and, who knows, a larger cafe might be needed but could the cable car be an economic possibility overall?
