ON Thursday, December 12, the pupils at Longdon St Mary's School spent an enjoyable morning when they went to the Swan Theatre to see Pinocchio. The children enjoyed an unexpected bonus when they emerged from the theatre to be greeted by a fall of snow!

On Sunday, December 15, Bridge Builders, the benefice Sunday School, held its Christmas party at Longdon vicarage. The children enjoyed various party games, a good spread of food and left with a present from Mother Christmas. At 6.30pm the annual service of nine lessons and carols buy candlelight was held at St Mary's Church. The choir sang Infant Holy, Harold Darke's setting of In the bleak midwinter, Past three a clock, and A New Year carol by Benjamin Britten. The junior choir sang Christmas Song.

Choir practices will begin again in the new year and Wendy Thompson, the choir mistress, would welcome new members, of any voice. Enquiries to the vicarage on (01684) 833256.

Today (Friday) at 9.30am Longdon St Mary's School will be holding its annual carol and Christingle service at St Mary's, followed by coffee and mince pies in the school hall.

On Sunday, December 22, the annual Christmas lunch for senior citizens (80 years and over) of Longdon parish takes place at Longdon vicarage, noon for 12.30pm.

On Monday there will be a Christmas activity morning for children aged five-11 years to be held in Longdon vicarage from 10am-noon. Various craft activities will be available and the Christmas story will also be told.
