A MAN with learning difficulties choked to death on two teabags, an inquest has heard.
Richard Harris had complained of feeling sick shortly before he died on Wednesday, said Worcestershire Coroner at the inquest in Stourport-on-Severn yesterday.
"He had tried to be sick but had got into difficulties and collapsed," said Mr Round.
Staff at Phoenix House on Bromyard Road, where Mr Harris, aged 55 lived, tried to resuscitate him and discovered a blockage in his airways.
"They dug out two tea bags," added Mr Round, opening the inquest.
"He had a mental age of about 10.
"He gulped cups of tea very quickly and in the past had swallowed tea bags from a cup."
The cause of death given by a pathologist was asphyxiation caused by an obstruction in the larynx and inhalation of tea bags.
The inquest was adjourned.
