THERE is something fishy going on at a Bewdley pub which has won a national competition.
The Running Horse in Long Bank has come up trumps for the quality of its fish board in a contest arranged by the Sea Fish Industry Authority for Chef and Brewer pubs.
Managers Christine and Richard Probert have been in charge at the pub for two years and have made fish a big part of the menu - with the result people from as far away as Dudley and Wolverhampton regularly pay a visit for dishes such as lobster and shellfish.
"We're a big old fashioned pub not a restaurant; it's informal dining, people just walk in," said Mrs Probert.
"People are going down that healthy line and eating more fish and they will come for miles for it."
The competition was arranged for Seafood Week in October and saw more than 300 pubs across the UK introduce new recipes.
Exotic species were also added to their menus.
A trip to The Deep in Hull, "the world's only submarium", has been laid on for the Bewdley pub's 42 full and part-time staff as a prize.
